I wonder whether the OP's time spent living in Minneapolis has conditioned him/her to consider any neighborhood without a blond majority a ghetto? I'velived in PLG for over a generation and know that it's one of the most successfully integrated middle class neighborhoods in NYC--hardly a ghetto. While the neighborhood has had a West Indian majority for many years it has attracted people of ALL races since at least the mid'60s. One of the reasons I bought my house here in 1974 was that it wasn't considered unusual for a white person to buy in PLG and I'd have no problem feeling welcome.

On the other hand, you're walking distance from both Peppa's and Exquisite. I'd gain about 100 lbs in that situation.

So if you see her walking down 18th avenue, please be nice!
So how goes so far?

I don't know if it's suddenly declined or maybe I just live on a bad block. Never again either way.
Take heed, nighttime in the winter is probably one of the worst times to check out a neighborhood or a building...

I lived there when it was called PigTown....before the real estate agents changed its name to Lefferts Gardens in an effort to attract stupid white folk that thought they could live in a ghetto and gentrify it

The name was changed in 1969 by a neighborhood association. So I guess you lived there in the '60s or earlier and now you have grown older and apparently bitter.

Yes.....I lived there in the 60s...older yes, bitter no.

You see I knew it as a great neighborhood...clean, safe, bustling with kids and families.

Then something changed.....and we moved when the sun stopped shining....
