From east to west.
West Farms- East Tremont- Fordham- University Heights
They are considered undesirable and are high crime. Some of the worst blocks I've seen are centered around 180th st.

180th street in the bronx ends at the Harlem River not the Hudson
areas are W Farms, Tremont, Belmont, Morris Heights, University Heights
unless they have been rehabbed with security, then no most of those areas couldn't really be classified as friendly and safe way too rough

friendly safe average describes Norwood, Bedford Park, Allerton, Kingsbridge Hts ie areas that are not slums per se but one distinct step down from the better areas like Morris Park, Woodlawn, Kingsbridge, Pelham Gardens

If you follow 180th West from the Zoo you don't come to the Hudson River. You come to the East River. The neighborhoods you go through are West Farms,East Tremont,Tremont,Mt Hope,Morris Heights and University Heights.Generally, they all have higher than average crime rates for The Bronx so I wouldn't exactly call them average.

Umm fellas sharpen up on your neighborhoods. Morris Heights is south of University Heights, with it's northern limit being Burnside ave (179th st.). The adjacent neighborhood to UH is Fordham.

What? Yes you do. If you go east you come to East River or the northern inlet of East River.

The area around West Farms Sq is a hole, especially Bryant Ave, 178th St, although it does get a lot better as you het closer to the zoo.

Bryant and East Tremont Avenue (177th) is the prostitution mecca of West Farms.
