No..what is really bad is that Bill Thompson was so dumb he lost to Bloomberg. When you don't have a campaign besides "Vote for me, at least I'm not Bloomberg", why would you be surprised Bloomberg won? If you continue to have idiots running for Mayor, this is what happens. Nobody wanted to go back to David Dinkins circa 1993...so they re-elected Bloomberg...we are not dummies.

Only in politics. Lets NOT keep the guy doing a good job. It's going to suck loosing Bloomberg. I will vote for a liberal, pro-city canidate he endorses.

This I definitely agree with.

Actually, I do recall Bloomberg barely beating Thompson especially because of the low voter turnout. To me, that says more about Bloomberg that a candidate who had very low funds was almost able to beat him.

Personally I can't wait until Bloomy is out. We need an injection of new blood in there, and I don't mean Christine Quinn. Bloomberg was OK for a while, but his time has come. Personally I am not a big fan of the nanny state, nor am I really impressed with how he is turning this city into a playground for the wealthy.

Agreed.

Just look at the Bronx, downtown Brooklyn, LIC in Queens, etc. Like it or not New York City as a whole became a much better city during Bloomie's term.
Lower unemployment rates mean little if anything. Sustainable income is what actually counts here. Someone employed working a menial job, on section 8, relying on food stamps with no possibility of moving out of a low income area is what we have witnessed over the past few years. Technically the unemployment rate is not as bad as it should be given the economy, however we have more people dependent on government subsidies than we have ever had before. As a result of that, there has been a slow but steady stream of traditional middle income new yorkers moving out of the city over the past 8 years or so. Some of NYC is better than what it was--I'll agree there, but how many NYers (families not Yuppies sharing 5 to a apartment) can even afford to live in downtown Brooklyn, LIC, Williamsburg etc? Not many.

Everyone knows how pro-tenant, pro-destabilization Quinn is. If she becomes mayor, us landlords are doomed! She'll be a royal f-up for the housing industrial. My biggest fear is actually both Quinn or Deblasio being mayor. Not looking good for our next mayor or NYC for that matter if these are the candidates we have to pick from.
