Do you know what year it was made? Norwood is called Gun Hill for one - lots of neighborhood names have changed.
I was able to contact Marc, who has this map posted at his Bronx In4mation Exchange web site: In4mation Exchange
According to Marc, the In4mation Exchange, which I may add, has some good Bronx info, has not been updated for quite a while.
Here is Marc's reply:

That map must be at the very least 20 years old. It was part of a collection of reference materials at my old job at 570 WMCA radio, back when it was a news-talk station. I was looking up some information (don't recall what, but I am sure it was not regarding the Bronx) when I happened to come across a book that had that map on the front or back cover (don't recall which). Just a guess, as it has been so long ago, I think it may have been a directory of member merchants from the Bronx Chamber of Commerce. The book was paper back, about 8 by 11 inches in size and a quarter of an inch to one-half inch thick. The cover was mostly white in color. I made a copy of the map and scanned it when scanners first became popular.
I do know that the Chamber of Commerce in the Bronx ceased operations a while ago and then regrouped. I don't know when it shut down, but perhaps you might find some clues there.
Sorry, but that is all the information I recall about that map.
Thank you for the information - I doubt neighborhood names in Manhattan have changed so much in that amount of time. Actually, there was an article in the Times a while back that said that many people in the Bronx weren't aware of exactly what neighborhood they actually lived in. When asked where they lived, many would name a major street that they live close to rather than a particular neighborhood.
If you look at the map, north of Fordham Rd. is called Fordham Manor, and south is called Fordham Heights. People now just refer to it all as Fordham. I don't think Belmont is considered that large anymore either - a major chunk is just called Fordham as well. Kingsbridge also seems to have grown as a neighborhood since no one uses the name Jerome Park.
No it is the northern boundary of Melrose. Seriously. This is the entire Melrose redevelopment district..and the northern boundary is 163rd. Nothing will tell you that Boricua Village is in Morrisania because it isn't.
Bronx Borough Court House (http://www.bronxboroughcourthouse.com/bpricuavillage.html - broken link)
And just a correction..the eastern boundary of Melrose is St. Anne's...not Brooke. I got the 2 streets confused. There is some spillage of the revedevelopment area east, but it is St. Anne's.
I've always considered those vacant lots behind the courthouse Morrisania were Boricua Village now stands. You're right it's part of the "Melrose Commons urban renewal area" it's just means that this development have spread to slight part of Morrisania. It don't make it "Melrose". IMO you just don't wanna this "stunning" develpoment to be associated with Morrisania.
Don't get me wrong it's completely understandable that you wan't ppl to believe that mighty Boricua Village is in Melrose, if I were a realtor or had some personal finance interest in this development I would hell no want it to be associated with Morrisania and I would call the area "Central Bronx" and close to "the Hub".

I really don't care what community the development is in....if it's Morrisania I would be the first to say it. The fact is it is in Melrose. The end.
As for the Adams houses, they are not in Melrose, they are in Woodstock. It is not "my name" for the community, it IS the name for the community and always has been. Boundaries naturally change in time...no doubt 3rd ave was the border for Melrose for sometime, but it has expanded to St. Anns with all the new developments....as well as to 163rd.
Woodstock itself used to be from 163rd to 149th, and from 3rd Ave to the Bruckner. Of course... this includes the community we now call Longwood (Prospect to Bruckner)...so things do change.
Thanks again for all the great information in the thread! I've finally uploaded some of the work from my Bronx wanderings and I figured I'd post it here in case anyone was interested. Right now I have two sets of photos posted:
Here, from The Weissman Center for International Business Baruch College/CUNY 2011, is their version of a Bronx neighborhood map:
