I work with a woman who lives in Brooklyn (not sure exactly where) and says the same thing. She said you used to walk from your car to your house at 3 a.m. and not worry about a thing, but now that they've locked up so many of the lower-level mobsters who used to live in her neighborhood, the petty crime is moving in, and you have to be careful.

We made our way to Christopher St and had a BALL...at least until all the ice ran out and the beer got warm. There was not one iota of violence or vandalism but there was a bit of danger in the streets with people driving with NO working traffic signals.

But it was a tough very HOT weekend and we were trapped in Manhattan...no way out. It was Tuesday til I could get back to Jersey City (the cats were VERY hungry.)

All in all, I would not have missed it for the world.
I am sooo jelous....must of been an amazing time back then. How was the piers? Were the streets full of people hanging, partying and drinking?
How late did it go on to?
