Hi, there are 3 of us traveling to the east coast this fall and would like to see NYC. Would probably be in town 2 or 3 days. Would like to stay outside in Conn. and get to NYC by train, bus or however is easiest for us.
We would like a nice place to stay and an rather inexpensive way to get
into town and back every day..ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED..
Thanks
Rita
The parts of Connecticut that are near the city are really expensive. You could try Stamford, but most of the hotels there are geared towards business travelers. The cheapest place is probably Bridgeport, but then you have to worry about safety and the commute starts to get long.
You should also look at Jersey or possibly White Plains.
With all the time and money you'll spend commuting, you might be better off in the city.
Back and forth to Connecticut every day is NOT a way to enjoy a NYC vacation, Rita.
Don't even CONSIDER it...you will spend every moment thinking about the train you need to catch.
If your worried about costs stay in Jersey City if your coming from the South or West , if your coming from the North stay in White Plains.
