I'm moving to nyc and found a nice apartment within my budget ($3500). The build was completed in 2006 and was really nice (hardwood floors, granite countertops, doorman, good location, etc). When they sent me the lease there was a disclosure that the had a bed bug problem within the last year on several floors. They floors were about 10 floors away from my apartment and they said they haven't had any issues since they were treated. How concerned should I be about this? I'm thinking in many large building they would have had an issue at some point or another. Think I should look elsewhere? Or is this just one of those "welcome to nyc" things?

I wouldn't panic but rather perhaps use it as a bargaining point.

From what I understand the disclosiure is now mandatory for any infections in the last year, both yes and no.

Did they say how long ago the infestations were cleared up? Twelve months, not bad...but 2 weeks might be scary.
