Although it's not my first choice of a place to live and I'm making preparations to leave (again), I must say that there are many good things about the Island, and many fine people live there. Sorry to have taken the thread off topic...

Well, i've been in the city for years and don't think i've ever heard anyone say something about only eating one bagel in a day. I've heard some of the other stuff, but that one really boggled the mind.

I've heard it and said it, unfortunately. I've even heard women use this as a reason for being too full to eat anything else until the following day (though I hope I haven't actually said that). I've never heard a man say such a thing, though, and I've never thought of it as a New York thing.
