Brooklyn Neighborhoods 2 beds $600K max... (Carroll: real estate, professionals, restaurants)

My husband and I are professionals in our early 30s. We love our Cobble Hill neighborhood but cannot afford to but a 2 bed in the area. Our budget is $500-600K and we would like a 2 bed in a neighborhood w/ a similar feel and proximity to shopping/restaurants. We only have about 10% to put down on a place and prefer to be near express trains (I take the 4/5 now).

It's a tall order but ... Any suggestions?

Park Slope/Boerum/Carroll Gardens seem just as pricey. We've checked out PH but that budget seems to only get you something above Washington which I have heard is not so safe.

Why so limited to Brooklyn? The other boroughs have tons to offer

But if Brooklyn is what you're looking for, look into southern Brooklyn

Otherwise, have a really good real estate agent
