We are looking at a place on 47th between 5th and 6th. I am a student with evening classes so I will be coming home late regularly. We really like the area, but we just want to be aware of issues or areas that are problematic.

Exaggerate? How do you exaggerate this?

Young man shot to death in Brooklyn in possible gang rubout, police source says - NY Daily News

And just as a point of reference, I've worked here 5 days a week for the past ten years. I'm in Sunset Park right now reading all the robberies that happened this week.

Thats one incident. A shooting can happen anywhere, anytime. Its not like everyday that happens then u could consider it a bad neighborhood. That type of violence is very rare for that area. I doubt u ever spent any time over there so ur just going off of one thing u read.

Fine by me. Obviously there's no proof of what I'm saying, and I wish you were right. I'm stuck in this neighborhood for the rest of today, as I've been at least 5 days a week for 10 years now.
