I want out of the unhealthy relationship I am in. It's a female , she works at the job I helped her get . She drives my car but pays half the insurance and car note, she is 14 years younger than me she pays half the rent we are not for Eachother the relationship has gone sour and she gets physical with me how do I get her out I'm in ny
If it was me I would have gone the angry girlfriend route, take his clothes, toss them out the window while he's out, and change the locks. He has to go out sometime.
NO, that would be a big mistake since this is all illegal self help and will put her on the wrong side.
She's breaking the law if she does this, and he can call the police. I had a non-paying, crazy roommate who called 911 because she said she was afraid I'd throw her out, and the police had to come and investigate. These people plan ways to live for free at others' expense and seem to have no intention of ever working and paying bills.
Of course, the law doesn't require your friend to feed this jerk. I'd cut off my internet and cable and use the money to never eat at home. I might even remove the TV. His life as a squatter in my home would be devoid of frills.
Yea, that's IT>
In NYC, go to court, do a holdover. like the links state. Then make his life as miserable as possible. Take out all the food out of there and anything else that he enjoys, as the poster above said. Cutoff Internet, phone, etc. But no, you just can't call the cops...or throw out all his things, or change the locks. Because then he can mess with you even more. I would see a lawyer too.
Wow, this is really interesting. I had no idea it would be so difficult to get rid of a deadbeat roommate.
Yea it is in NYC. You got losers of both genders playing this game with people who live in apartments. That's why I've lived alone for 20 years. If not a spouse or family, don't let him/her in. They can go to court and have you thrown out of your own apartment or get the judge to force you to keep them there for a while at least.
Change the locks and throw his stuff in the trash.
She can't do that. He will sue her for damages. He may lose but she will still pay court costs and lose a day. Did you read the thread?
