I made it up there for the first time today. The beauties of a day off in the middle of the week and an unlimited metro card. From my house in queens, I took the Q46 to the 44. Got off in Parkchester, walked through the complex, looked very nice. Then got the BX22 to Fordham Road and Arthur Avenue.
I didn't go to the dining establishments, but to the market and had a nice Italian sandwich and a slice from the place in the back, Cafe Al Mercato. The slice was very good, actually had the sauce on top of the cheese.
While I was there, there was some filming going on. I asked someone in the crew and it's a "show" on TLC called Bronx Italian Mama's Boys or something like that, which is a show I won't be watching.
Coming back, I walked down 187th to Southern Blvd, grabbed the BX9 to Boston Road by the Zoo for the 44.

Good Post. I always wanted to check out that place someday. I always had the Q44 in mind if I wanted to go to the Bronx.
Arthur Ave is one of the better streets to stroll through on a nice spring NYC day. What I like about arthur ave in particular is that its touristy but not too touristy it still has a natural feel to it.
So that's "DOMINIC'S for Dinner."
What are some of the other places for a good meal (more than a slice of pizza.)
