Here are the percentage of minorities in South Bronx communities

Note: Some CD's(Community District) overlap other areas..eg; CD 3 also includes Melrose, CD 7 includes Uni. Heights and Fordham etc. As to prevent confusion, I grouped them where the majority of the section lies.

Community District 1- Melrose, Mott Haven, Port Morris

Hispanics- 70.8%, Blacks- 25.9% = 96.7% Whites = 1.3%

Community District 2- Longwood, Hunts Point

Hispanics- 75.8%, Blacks- 21.4% = 97.2% Whites = 1.2%

Community District 3- Claremont, Morrisiana (includes parts of Melrose)

Hispanics- 52.9%, Blacks- 49% = 96.9% Whites= 1.0%

Community District 4- Highbridge, East/West Concourse, MT Eden

Hispanics- 58.4%, Blacks- 36.1% = 94.5% Whites= 1.4%

Community District 5- University Heights, Morris Heights, Fordham, MT Hope

Hispanics- 61.6%, Blacks- 32.4%= 94% Whites= 1.5%

Community District 6- East Tremont, West Farms, Belmont

Hispanics- 61.3%, Blacks- 26%= 87.3% Whites= 9.3%

Community District 7- Bedford Park, Norwood (includes parts of University Heights and Fordham)

Hispanics- 59.2%, Blacks-20.0% = 79.2% Whites= 10.7%

I hope this helps people wanting to move into The Bronx, seeing the makeup of the areas.

A question on my part. Knowing these areas are all crime-filled, how would you rank the CD's in order from worst area to best area out of the group.

You forgot CD 9 and all of those are equally bad. Well, district 7 hasn't gone to hell yet in some decent pockets around Mosholo Parkway but current trends suggest it will.

CD 6 also contains Fordham University and it's dorms. No way the White population is that high in the neighborhood. Little Italy in Belmont is long gone. Yes there are some Italian owned businesses left but the Italian population is virtually non existant.

I'm sure a few Italians exist in Belmont. Probably old folks who have gotten so accustomed to the area that they never left, no matter how bad the surrounding areas got. That, plus Albanians = some Whites.

there are practically zero italians left in belmont, not even old folks. the shops and restaurant owners travel from the burbs if anything. whatever white ppl that actually reside there, are mostly albanian.

Yes mostly Albanians but much less then 10%. That 10% includes the Fordham University dorms. More like 2-3% in the actual neighborhood, hold outs scattered around the northern parts of the Belmont area near Arthur Ave.

To show the extent of the minority population in these areas. For example, you may know that the South Bronx mostly consists of minorities but somebody let's say moving from Montana probably wouldn't know. And to tell you the truth, I was surprised by the exact numbers. Though I knew the majority was minority, I didn't know upwards of 95% in some cases.

Also I wanted to see the order of the rankings of these areas from worst to best....as to get an idea as to which part is the worse of the worse. Since noone's tried..disregarding my lack of knowledge...i'll give it a go. From Worst to Best

CD 1
CD 3
CD 5
CD 4
CD 2
CD 6
CD 7

that about right?
