Among the three, is there an ordrr of rank based on merit score, or is it all based on one's preference of which school of the three to attend? It seems like that more black students prefer Tech.

also, i fully agree with the op's comment regarding the corration between admission to the SH and attending the preparatory schools. I know the chinese community has a lot of preparatory schools, which is tightly related to their higher presence in these schools. By the same token, other cultures fo us more on other things in life such as sports camps or arts/music/performing arts workshops so these kids are prepared to win college scholarships and admissions through other means. You seldom hear an asian kid go to a college on track scholarship. No hate or envy should be raised for th such disparities. it is your own choi e and preference.

I think the blacks and latinos in the NYC specialized schools got in through selection or affirmative action. Because there are so many Asians on the waiting list to get in, I can guarantee you that there is enough Asians in NYC to completely take over every spot in all of the specialized schools. The problem with that is the over representation of one race could create problems. It's a societal problem more than anything.

Please back it up with some meaningful facts. The specialized high schools are legally obligated to only admit students through merit. What you're saying is clearly not true until you can provide something to back it up.

This is not legitimate argument and not worth continuing. If the quota system were used and not the merit system most of the students would be White in these schools. Followed by Latino, then closely followed by Blacks. Asians would be the noticeably smallest group. So go on to something else.

Hey ******* , yea of course, did you ever take a math class? Those are overwhelming general populations, you obviously cannot compare raw numbers when latinos and blacks overwhelm blacks in general population in NYC. Did they teach fractions in those lousy NYC Public schools?
