Parkchester is affordable, however it is most definitely not the projects. Parking stinks, but there are alot of shopping and amenities, and the 6 goes express to the city from there...which is great.

It is green, walkable, and pretty good as far as affordable housing goes. Yes there is crime..but please tell me where there isn't? Parkchester is quite safe, and I suspect if you are considering moving there then in that price range, it will be hard to find the entire package that Parkchester offers.

i have family that used to live in parkchester north in the early '90s. i saw bulletholes in the elevator and that instantly turned me off.
i went to parkchester last year and saw the place has changed significantly in the past 10 years. decent place for a 1st time homebuyer.

Yes it is a decent place for a 1st time homebuyer or someone looking for somewhere quite affordable to live, with lots of amenities within a few block radius, and an express train into the city.
