Confused about the tax returns...is it because I don't have the documents in general, or because I didn't make any money last year? Because I think my mom filed for me, and I made like $10,000 total. Would that cut it?

tax returns are the best way for a broker to see (a) your last year's earnings, (b) your job security, by comparing your last year's place of employment to the letter you give him from your current employer, and (c) your citizenship. your last year's earnings are too low to rent anything here. if i were you, i would sit down with my mom and have a conversation about her being your garauntor. she will have to submit her documents in place of yours. if anything happens, she will be on the hook.
