The rich part is called Hudson heights, 183 to 193 east of Broadway. This is where the rich and jewish community call it home. Everything else is called Washington Heights. Have you ever strolled along Bennett, overlook terrance, ft washington, pinehurst, cabrini, etc (east of broadway from 175 to 193). It's a whole different feel.

"Hudson Heights" is only used by real estate brokers, as far as I can tell.

This is the first time in my life I've ever heard that name applied to that area (which is actually west of Broadway, not east). I've always heard it called Fort Tryon.

But I guess that when you throw the real estate industry into the proceedings, no neighborhood name is safe.

yes it's a real estate gimmick, the same way they call the lower part of east harlem "Upper east side" lol, or Parts of bushwick, 'East williamsburg"

I'm thinking also of "Manhattan Valley"...formerly "the Bloomingdale district."
