This is a big issue in the subways of Tokyo. It got so bad there that Tokyo Metro (and I think the JR Lines as well) started reserving a subway car for women only. Something like 60% of all women were getting groped.
Do you guys think something like this would work here? I don't live in NYC so I don't know if this is a real issue or if it is just being blown out of proportion.
I lived in Tokyo for about 6 months and I didn't witness this personally but it can get so crowded during rush hours that I was doing good just to breathe. This link says that most women didn't do anything about it anyway due to embarrassment or fear.
For the past several months, NYC have been having a problem with several men groping women, raping them, among others disturbing sexual behaviors.
Take a case for instance that I saw tonight on Channel 7, ABC News:
He appears to be to his neighbors in Park Slope, an outstanding citizen: Has a job in a good company, is amicable, respectful, a bible student, who also volunteers on several organizations, one of them being with sexually-abused women. This is the persona he exhibits to most people who know him, and not one person can believe his behavior, when he was caught, yet, a camera caught this well-dressed man, fairly good-looking, about 26 years' old, following women and groping them, then trying to take photos with his cell, of their private parts, as they go up the stairs in the Subway.
Do you think there is something in the NYC water that is causing this behavior, because this seems to be a new trend?
NO, I don't think there is something in the water.
