My thing is this thst transplants can introduce suburban sensablilites into area schools forcing teachers and local parents to adapt and change.

Transplants arent sending their kids to poorly performing schools when even middle class blacks and latinos avoid this where ever possible. Who would subject a child to that?

And indeed many do apply, if we are to believe Bloomberg and Kelly.

So whats your point? The police cant hire every one so what happens to those who dont make the cut, or who cant wait untll called in?

You do look quite silly pretending as if blacks dont face unique problems in finding employment when the very NYC admits that there is a problem and that black men, and to a lesser extent black women, have been most hurt by this recession. Indeed almost 20% of black men who were working in 2008 are now unemployed. Go to any job fair and you will be astounded by the numbers of blacks in suits one see....middle class blacks clearly.

Beats sitting on a security desk, no? If those associates degrees are worth more than the paper they're printed on, and not just the CUNY equivalent of a GED.

You dont seem to get the point do you.

1. More blacks have been applying for jobs at NYPD and indeed there has been a vast increase in the numbers of black cops. They dont need a bigot in denial like you to tell them about this.

2. NYPD is not in a position to absorb all the college educated black men so...yes...some have to end up working security instead of begging their mothers for pocket money. Do you prefer that they turn to crime?

3. A successful jewish man can say what he wants. Jews are a very powerful group in NYC so his buddies will hook him up. He might even hire a black guy to do security.

The facts sir is that blacks have a tougher time finding work and if one goes to a job fair one would see that the large % of people there (maybe 50%) are indeed blacks dressed professionally. Please dont fool yourself into thinking that these people with college degrees, many of them beinh home owners are people who demand anything other than a fair shake. ANd if shabby treatment was something that bothered them they woudl never get up in the morning. Its part of being black.

I think that YOU need to get over yourself and see reality. NYC statistics clearly point out a problem and black males with college degrees doing security signals something too!!!

If they top the civil service exam, they'd all be hired.

Link? Perhaps it means that an education is more than just a diploma. Actually learning something, means more than a degree from CUNY.

BigJake the police force is 35k. How can they hire all of the college educated black men who are forced into low paying jobs even if they want to?

The rest of your babble are personal attacks motivated by a fact that NYC stats indicate, but you refuse to, amd that is COLLEGE EDUCATED BLACKS HAVE A HARDER TIME FINDING WORK that utilizes their college education than do others.

Do you know that the Barclay Center held interviews for $10/hour jobs. According to the NY Times, not only were 80% of those applying blacks, but a large % had college degrees? Why would they go to college, incur loans and then aspire for those kind of jobs? Clearly they have difficulties in getting emplyment so are forced to take whatever they can get...

How come other college grads dont have those challenges to the same degree. Dont you want to know?

Now why dont you come out and admit that you think that college educated blacks are dumber than others because you surely imply this here?

You know some people really try hard to ensure that they look racist.

Study Finds New York Has Lowest Grad Rate for Black Males - WNYC

Only 1/3 of NYC's black males even graduate from its public high schools! Those HS diplomas are considered worthless by most employers. Only one-quarter pass the Regents exams. Only a fraction of HS grads eventually graduate college. CUNY diplomas are not held in high regard either. Rightly or wrongly, some employers feel that degrees from other institutions are attributable more to Affirmative Action, than ability.
Civil service exams are a great means of progress. There are 250,000 public jobs in NYC, many obtained by competitive exam.

As for CUNY a degree and to a leser extent SUNY, for most employers they do hold those degrees to the lowest regard as possible compared to Ivy league schools and other private institutions, unless if its a Baruch or City College. As for attending a public institution my best bet is for four year graduates of a CUNY or SUNY institution to acquire a Masters degree to in order compete against Ivy league institutions on the job market. I would personally love to go back to school to attain my Masters degree, however I dont want to put myself in debt even though I'm fully employed and I do have the time to study and write thesis papers all night long. Debt affects people of all races and ranks alike.

Speaking of debt, it's even more worse is that amount of Blacks who go to college. Blacks are more likely to be in debt compared to other groups.
