Looking for a decent 1 bedroom in park slope, carroll gardens areas... I need to stay in the area because my daughter attends school. I don't want to pay a fortune in rent for the next year or 2 because I am saving for a house. I am going through a divorce so I am a single mom on a budget trying to recover from a nightmare of a marriage.
Thanks

Uhhh...yes it is. You can read the etymology of the name on Wikipedia if you're so inclined. (I don't feel like digging for a different source).
South Brooklyn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

OP: You need to be more specific about your budget.

Most New Yorkers reffer to South Brooklyn as the literal southern part of Brooklyn (Coney Island, Sheepshead Bay, Bensonhurst, Marine Park, etc).

Never liked how Carrol Gardens, Park Slope, etc was also reffered to as South Brooklyn.
