i am planning to visit NYC from Germany. Sorry for my english, its not that perfect

i want to spent 1-2 weeks in NYC. I am 21 years old and living in germany. The point is, i want not spend my time in expensive hotels in manhattan. I am looking for cheap "hotels". it must not be in manhattan, brooklyn or queens are fine for me too. Can you tell me how much are a average hotel/motel whatever cost for a night in brooklyn or queens? Food and Drink i would buy in stores. I try to describe what i mean, i only need a room to sleep with a little bathroom. I dont need a hotel with that luxury things. I hope you know what i mean.

Another question for hiphop heads, does anybody know in which street exactly i find the Big Pun memorial graffiti in the bronx? Or the Big L memorial in Harlem? Thank you.

I suggest you look in hotels in Long Island City in Queens which has good subway access and is just across the East River from Midtown Manhattan.

Staying in a hotel is not going to give you the authentic NYC experience if you're going to be here for a while. Go to Roomorama.com and check out the NY, NY page. There are hundreds of listings of apartment shares, many quite cheap. Lots of them in Harlem and Brooklyn which is what you want if you're making the "birth of hip hop" pilgrimage. I have good experience with Roomorama. They're reliable. With a short term rental of a conapt you can do your own cooking and get the experience of actually living here.
