What are your thoughts on these food trucks?
You continued eating it after you found a hair in your food YUKKKK

I would never eat from those trucks. Dirty, dirty dirty. at least restaurants now have grades so we can see if they are clean (or sort of clean) or not. These trucks do not.

I love cart food, though nothing here really compares to the culture of it in Portland. It would be nice to see the grading system be applied to food carts as well, I think it would be good for the city to have a better competition of food carts. But that doesn't stop me from enjoying a gyro or a dirty water dog once in a great while.

Curious - why do you specify halal? There used to be an ordinary cart I used to go to, just sausages, etc., but so good that it had been written up repeatedly. I rarely do the halal carts, and one big reason is that they never have prices.

You could... ask what their prices are...

I love the Halal carts but they're terrible for you so I don't eat it much. Funny thing about 'em, though, is that many of them are not actually "Halal".

Rafiqi's does--you get chicken over rice with the veggies, black beans, whatever, and it's five bucks.

I like the guys by Union Square East, I believe they are on East 15th street. Halal carts are an occasional treat me though unless I have a few hours to spare on the golden throne

So you would not eat from any food truck? Even the "trendy" gourmet ones?

Btw, I'm starting to think restaurant grades are a big money making scheme. Ive seen places get A's I know aren't the cleanest, only to see them get B's again when another inspection comes. Also I've seen a few chain franchises get a B only to have their grade magically changed in a day or two to an A. In general when you go out to eat you are always taking a chance. You are trusting that a business will be clean. You don't know what goes on in those kitchens.

Eh, it was the sodium-content remark that spurred my witty little comment. Never said it wasn't true.
