Hi! I was cleaning out my closet and I found some Music Books that I must have bought while I was teaching Music yrs. ago. I've been trying to get rid of these Music Books (a couple of them are Music Educational like one of those Cartoon education books of each Classical Composer - like there's a thin book of just Bach which as cartoon like drawings of him playing the piano w/ his bio & some references of musical pieces, but the majority or Rest of them are Piano Books that you could use to teach Piano w/ to KIDS) & have been having a Hard Time finding a place where to sell them (or even Get Rid of them). PLUS, ALL these Music Books (These Music Books AREN'T TEXTBOOKS. They're look more like those Workbooks that little kids use.).

ARE BRAND NEW. I had them I was Teaching Music professionally in a Classroom & NEVER Used them (I think I forgot I had them.). 1stly, I went to this 1 little music shop (it was off of Lafayette St. in East Village) that sold USED instruments & other music materials, but the guy there only took a couple of these music theory books & told me that he wasn't interested in the Piano ones b/c he mainly has Gtr. & doesn't really sell any (or doesn't have any use for) Piano music. So, he suggested that I go Uptown b/c they might be stores that will buy Used Music Books such as "Strand", "Barnes-N-Noble" (he suggested the TEXTBOOK Store), et.

So, I went to both & they didn't take it & of course, some people told me to sell it on Craigslist. I then posted my ad on Craigslist & Got NO RESPONSE Whatsoever!!

Now, I'm stuck w/ these Piano & Music Educational books & find that I have No Need for them Anymore. I'm Not Teaching Elementary School Music, but @ the same time I DON'T Want to just Throw them in the garbage. Instead, I rather find a "home' for them for someone (maybe a kid) who could BENEFIT from them b/c he/she has a Love for Music.

So, Could anyone Help Me or Tell Me where in NYC or I'll even go to Westchester County (I don't prefer any of the boros.) to find a store or place to sell them??

Please let me know. I'm open to any suggestions.

I've found that unfortunately Craig's List is useless for selling books. You have to sit down and think about how much money you'd really make, and how much effort you'd want to put in.

If they have considerable value, they you could first look up all the local used book stores that might deal in music (you can probably put together a list via Biblio). Second, you could try selling them yourself, via Amazon, Alibris, or Abe. However, if they have little value, why not just call up one of the local music schools - I think there's one in the Village for kids, and one in Harlem - and ask if they have any scholarship kids that might like them as a donation?

If you can't sell them and don't find any takers, before throwing them out, please send me a DM. My kid's best friend just got a music ed degree and maybe could use them. She teaches piano privately and is looking for a chorus job. I'd take them, but I don't teach piano.

There are so few sheet music stores left any more.

Go to ebay and look up similar items. See what they sell for to determine if it's worth your while to try and sell yours.

If you want to donate them, do an internet search for local music schools.

If you end up having to throw them away, it's not the end of the world. I do understand, and have been in the situation of not wanting something going to waste, but it happens.

If you can't sell them you can get rid of them in a few hours on "free" craigslist!
