How far is it from the closest point in Co-Op City?
It backs up to one section of Co-op city.

There is already a large shopping mall( Bay Plaza) within co op city and another shopping mall just over the Westchester County line in Pelham, literally within walking distance. There are also numerous ,satellite sort of strip malls on the periphery of the existing mall, so it's not like shopping is sorely lacking in co op city at all.The proposed mall is just a little bigger and a little more upscale. In fact, they are calling it an "expansion" of the current mall but my guess is that it will inevitably wind up being a replacement with the old one being bulldozed for a few more residential buildings.

Well no..shopping really is sorely lacking in co-op city. It isn't about the number of retailers, it is about what retailers are there. The existing retailers have improved, but are still not meeting the needs of the surrounding community, hence the new mall is being built to meet those needs.
