on Wednesday cause i found out i have a malignant melanoma on my back. This is the center for cancer care. I was told to come down Eastchester Rd, right on Blondell, and two lefts into the parking lot on Jarrett. I am familiar with this area tho i don't go there very often(I used to go to 1500 Eastchester Rd off Waters Pl). is this the best way to go coming from Riverdale? I have to go to discuss a sentinel mode biopsy with the specialist. i already posted this concern on the health forum bit if anyone is familiar with this pls don't hesitate to DM me
Sorry to hear about the diagnosis. My prayers are with you. May I ask how your melanoma was discovered? Did you notice marks on your back and decide to check them out?
i know now where all the lots are so thanks for all your help
in 1995 i had a growth removed from my forehead but it was nothing. since then i had been concentrating on other health stuff and not really skin stuff since i was never a big beach bum
i had a growth on my back (in the middle) in a place where i couldn't really see it. generrally it always itched. i never had it looked at until 7/3. because i was at work and it started itching me bad. i itched it against a wall corner. a co worker told me the back of my shirt was soaked in blood. after it dried i used 2 mirrors to try to see it and it indeed looked suspicious. the dermatologist who biopsied it didn't even think it was cancerous but it turned out it was. it is 2/5 mm in penetration
within the next 2 weeks i am going to have a wide local excision and then a biopsy of the sentinel node. in a week i have to have either a skin graft or some kind of flap procedure because of the location of the growth
i realize this might belong in the medical forum so i will stop. dm me is you want.
but as of today i feel fine and never have had any symptoms of cancer. in fact i have noted a increase in my energy levels and outlook(probably because i am on diabetic medication which has helped control my sugar and lose a little bit of weight). so i have that to be thankful for at least
my dermatologist referred me to a surgeon at Montefiore Weiler Hospital. I guess it's a network kind of thing where your specialist has other specialists they normally refer to. My parents both had surgery at SK tho. Im guessing it's easier and quicker for them to work with specialists they already know. also it's easier for me to get around the N bronx than to have to go to consults in Manhattan.
