the concept of family values (in one name or another) in Judaism goes back 1000s of years so no it has nothing to do with race.

Judisim has always been a family oriented religion with a strong emphasis on religion even outside of places of worship.

PS
may God allow Ruben Diaz to be in Albany for many more years to come.
PPS I think only a masochist or a sadist living in the Bronx would not vote for someone who will change the bronx for the better because he votes against same gender "marriage".

Bronx all you neef is one line and it will take you in the city. I had a coworker from brooklyn who had to transfer to 3 different trains to get to the city, thats a huge inconvience. If.you dig up dirt about the south btonx especially for its high crime eras of the 1930s due to prohibition and 1980s, 90s war on drugs, why did gangsters fight over the south bronx?. Its location and easy access to ship illegal goods across the city via transportation.
The Bronx has no real nodes the way Brooklyn does. Sure, there's Yankee Stadium and 149th, but that's about it. Subway lines are still spread out in terms of how they enter the borough and aren't particularly well-connected. Essentially, you're stuck with wherever the line that's near you goes. I'd still wager that Downtown Brooklyn and Long Island City are better for Manhattan access, though.

Would you vote for someone who wanted to change the a Bronx, but considers the Jewish religion as not a real religion and wishes to make it illegal to practice? That is basically what you are asking, just replacing something I care about with something you care about.

Even though this has nothing to do with the subject of this thread, I have to respond. Anyone who votes against same-gender marriage rights is hurting families. There are tens of thousands of children living in this country with same gender parents. Do these families not deserve the same protections that the government gives to other families? Whose the sadist now?

As for Diaz, I read in the Times that the Bronx has the largest number of families headed by same gender parents compared to the other boroughs. These are most likely lesbian couples of color who are the most damaged by these anti-civil marriage rights wing nuts. Diaz needs to realize that his religious beliefs should not determine how he casts his votes. He should consider how his votes impact his constituents.

So would you vote for someone who was a believer in national socialist policies of Hitler and would openly legislate against Jewish families from getting married, but at the same time would change the Bronx? There are certain fundamental rights that a human being would not sacrifice just for a better meal. Call it masochistic or sadist or whatever, but it is a moral stance that can not be bought with $$$ and Target stores.
