I just moved to Forest Hills a few weeks ago. I want to start working out and jogging again (after taking a LONG break). Any recommendations for good areas to jog around the Forest Hills/Rego Park areas? Any suggestions for gyms or yoga/pilates studios? Thanks!
NYSC is pretty nice. Only been there a couple times during their 30.00 for a month special. One on Queens Blvd, one on Austin. Head down to Forest Park, or head up to Flushing Meadows Corona Park for lots of jogging space.
There is a a YMHA on 108th Street in Forest Hills.
Also there is a relatively new NY Sports Club on the corner of Queens Blvd./67th Avenue which is on the border of Rego Park and Forest Hills.
NYSC is nice and is right atop the 67th St. Station on Queens Blvd.
Good thing is that if you are in Manhattan and want a workout they are all over the place and you can go to any of them.
I went jogging in forest hills gardens today. Wow, what a beautiful neighborhood!!!! I'll definitely go jogging there a couple times a week from now on! Im gonna try forest park this weekend.
I know there is a NYSC on Austin and it's really popular among locals. There's also a Lucille Roberts if you like that. It's much cheaper but more like at your own risk! The surroundings are pretty great - there's a bunch of healthy shops opened around them and I believe there are specials for NYSC members, too.
For gyms, NYSC on Austin (across the street from the Barnes & Noble) or Bally's in Kew Gardens.
Running? Forest Hills Gardens (which you've already done), Forest Park, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, or Juniper Valley Park (more into the Rego Park/Middle Village area). Both Forest Park and Juniper Valley Park have running tracks.
