Michael Kimmelman paints an idyllic picture along the Bronx River in New York, where the waterfront along "one of the most blighted, abused waterways in the country" is being transformed park by park.
You never cross that river, and if you do you are certainly not noticing anything. It is a LONG process to bring the waterway back, but it IS happening park by park. The largest challenge, of course, is along the very industrial Hunts Point waterfront, where ironically the change and parkland push was started.
I have to cross it to get into Riverdale unless you know a better way, and I had friends on the West Side of Inwood so I did the park several times.
I also ride along side it whenever I take Metro North.
So yeah, I DO cross THAT RIVER and spend some time on BOTH shores.
Dippy...I have never been called that...but I'll accept it.
