So I have my HS Diploma. After that I went to CC upstate. First year did okay. 2nd year, screwed around and did mostly nothing. In 07 decided to transfer my credits to another CC to give it another go, but because I had just moved out, didn't have much money or time I did poorly and was past the point of withdrawing. I had loans, paid them off. Now I'm very focused because I know what I want and how to get it.

But, now I learn to transfer you have to be at 2.00 GPA. I HIGHLY doubt I meet that criteria given I only had about 15 credit hours transfer from the first CC and the second didn't pass a class. They want 70.00 for the transfer, then I could still get denied. Is there any options? I'm only doing online because of work and a child, but the places online are so pricey. pretty much 40k for an associates. I just want a couple classes a semester to get me moving towards a bachelors in business.

Any ideas what to do? I always thought community colleges were easy to get into, but now the 2.0 GPA requirement kind of kills my excitement because I don't want to get all my paperwork, take time off work to meet with advisors to get declined.

If you have honestly assessed and realized the mistakes you've made, then this will not sound out of line. If you are willing to put in the work to earn your degree, then enter QCC as a non-matriculated student.

If you know what major your looking to enter into, than take those classes as a non-matriculated student. Once you've taken a couple of classes and pass them, your GPA will rise to the 2.0 that's needed to be accepted as a transfer student. Once you've become matriculated, the same classes that you took will be accepted towards your degree.

A word of advice. Try shooting for at least a B average. That way, if you decide to continue after your undergraduate degree and try for a graduate degree, you at least have the average to apply for graduate school.

Good luck.
