I used to live in the Bronx and drive the FDR Drive (heading south) almost daily...There used to almost always be a guy with a chair underneath the ramp to the Triboro Bridge either sitting, dancing, or doing jumping jacks...Ever since I moved back to Queens, I rarely drive over there anymore...Is he still around? Anyone know what his deal is / was?

His name was Mike and he became mayor of New York.

I am no where near where you mention in your post but your post did kind of tweak my sympathy for this guy. He was more than likely a street person who may have either lived nearby or lived right where he was. Sad. Here where I live, we have what I call "street creatures". I would imagine they are perfectly ok people but they all have stories..I started asking questions about them and only because I was concerned.
The first guy I will mention is called "Stretch"...he walks a few steps, stops and STRETCHES back, then up, then continues his walk. I found out he is on disability from an accident he had that all but crippled him. He walks every day. That's Stretch. Next is "Top Knot Lady"...this woman walks MILES a day. I have seen her all over our town. She witnessed her son being killed by a train and has wandered aimlessly all day long since the accident. She goes all over town then returns home at night.
Sad stories but for every homeless person, for every street creature and for every person we see behaving oddly (or what we feel is oddly) there is a story. Ask about your guy like you did and see what his story might be. You may be surprised. Thanks for caring.
