I was just wondering where I can find out information regarding the neighborhood where I live. I dont want to keep posting the same thing on here. But I want to know why people keep saying Bushwick is so bad. What areas are they talking about? I just want to find something that shows what happens in the neighborhood, such as crime, etc...on a day to day basis, not just an overall picture. Does that even exist?
I remember a website that was something like Graybill.com or Kraybill.com which I believe a link that was provided by the NYPD website. Try the NYPD website and see if they provide any info or links. That site i remmeber showed arrests and gave detailed descriptions of the charges
There's probably a local/neighborhood paper or two if you look around. Plus Brooklyn blogs I mentioned on another thread, including the one(s) about Bushwick--also sites like Brownstoner, curbed, etc etc. If you know your precinct, you can look up info and stats via the NYPD site, I think. Also, this forum has stats and extensive info for many areas, hence citidata forum. Go to the main link, I think.
Ah, here ya go: this is citydata's Brooklyn page. Click on the zip code you're in (if available) and it'll tell you a lot--including things like if there's any registered sex offenders, and many other demographics.
The crime blotter the public has access to is a waste. It shows nothing, so many things happen even during a single night you would be very surprised. If you honestly want to find out about what crime problems effect the community the most you will have to talk to the community affairs unit in the 83. Of course unless you have a real reason they will give you the run around.
around my way there's a publication called "the wave"
they used to have a police blotter but they stopped printing it
it wasnt uncommon for me to read it and recognize names of people i knew...lol.
I like the Norwood news--pretty balanced. Free Bronx paper for the Northwest Bronx communities. They also have a blog and an online edition.
When I read the police blotters on the Daily News/Post believe it or not they sometimes have nada for the Bronx. But it's no better or worse than the other boroughs in terms of incidents they choose to publish. Of course it's a small sampling. But the Norwood News has little briefs about local crime, as well as local developments positive and negative, which I really appreciate.
