Keens. The Palm has so many happy people on their website, shoot it makes me want to go and join all of those smiling people! I'm a huge meat lover, and love a great a ribeye, but I find most traditional steakhouses so stuffy!
I recommend going to Luger's, its not in Manhattan but its just over the bridge (literally the first exit). Make your reservation early. Expect a gruff waiter. When you get there order the 1/2 inch thick bacon as an appetizer. Then order the porterhouse for 2 (or however many), medium, the creamed spinach and the german style potatoes. Have a good claret with it. Be sure to have plenty of room in your stomach when you turn up. Then get a taxi back to the hotel to sleep in the postprandial bliss.
Forget what I said then! (Perhaps if you worked out the subway instead of a taxi and didn't have a starter or a bottle of wine....)
Keens has a larger selection of cheaper non-porterhouse steaks in addition, so if you are careful they will probably be a better choice. But tips in NYC are usually 15-20%
I'd rather save my lard intake for a heavily marbled ribeye. That's just wasted artery space...
Although a slab of this on a piece of black bread with some spicy mustard and I'm ready to shout "URA!"
That's as lard-like as it gets.
