While you may consider that the case- I think it's much more clear the OP couldn't see any reason for choosing to 'hack living it'- and thus left.

When you weigh the pros and cons- NYC sometimes comes up behind other places for many people.

Someone who grew up in somewhere like St. Louis or Detroit would have an entirely different perspective. Going from Detroit to New York would be seen as a huge upgrade.

for me, coming from detroit (even a suburb of detroit) it was a huge upgrade
