Kefir King, any chance that Related has any other offerings on the low income level?
I just started the 80/20 search, and just received a letter from Related that their low income list is closed until Jan. Does that mean there are no offerings til then? Or is there other stuff floating around for low income?
I did stop by Related for their "moderate income" applications. Their income paramaters for the "moderate income" level are too high for my income right now.
You could always ask your boss to reduce your salary. I'm sure he'd be happy to oblige!
Not necessarily. When I was in my early 20s, I asked my boss to reduce my salary so I would qualify for something that made it significantly worthwhile. His response was no because it wasn't ethical.

Buiding is slow currently. My neighbor in the iron workers union just got laid off...no work.
So, wait till January and February and bang on RELATED's door.
The SOUR part of me feels that perhaps New York is finally joining the rest of the county in a real estate slowdown/shutdown.
This is great info! Thanks! I know that current NYC residents get first priority (as they should), but do you think it would hurt to apply if you don't yet live there but are planning a move there within the next couple of months? Or should I wait until after I move and live there for a while?
You need to be a resident at the time you move in but unfortunately, they will probably toss out your application if it doesn't have a NY STATE address on it.
IF a buiding has any federal mortgage money in it, then they cannot discriminate against any U.S. citizen. But getting that kind of data and holding their feet ot the fire are not easy chores.
Do you have a relative whose address you can use? And then make sure you are living in New York when you are called. Otherwisee, wait until you move to submit applications.

Thank you, KefirKing. I do have a friend whose address I can use, and while seeking housing in this manner is not my first option (more of a last resort), I don't see how it could hurt to at least try, so thank you for not lambasting me for applying when I am not an NYC native or current resident, haha. I probably won't submit my application until after I move in January... I know it will take a while to process so I have time. Thanks again!
