What happens if they claim or even "prove" they are looking for a job, but they aren't really looking (arrive late or wear hoochie mama clothing to the interview if they get one, or have spelling mistakes all over their applications)? Can they cry about how no one will hire them and then continue to get the benefits?
This is nothing new. Whatever happened to welfare for only 24 months? Did that quietly disappear? There will be so many exclusions as to be nothing more than hot air......
I dont know if you know this but food stamps isnt welfare in the sense that WIC is. To qualify one must merely have low income and a poster already showed you the stats.
The issue is either you cut rents, raise the minimum wage or offer food stamps because low income people witgh kids cantg house them at $1300/month. clothe them sufficiently well so that ACS doesnt snatch them, and still feed them. ANd if the kids goto school with 50% of their expected body weight the parents get sued for child neglect.
I rather food stamps for the WORKING poor than WIC for those who dont want to do anything other than watch TV.
Now if some abuse it (selling stamps, and PIN) then dump them.
Never understood why we have handouts/entitlements.
Because some people refuse to work for a living and others feel they deserve to be taken care of. It's insanity. It encourages laziness and children born to single mothers. The more children without a father, the bigger the welfare check.
Is this what you think 1.8 million NYers are receiving because they're "lazy"?
What would you call it? What of those with children who are single? No husband in sight and no one to support their children? If they had ambition and were motivated, had a good work ethic, they would get some kind of training, a decent job, and hold off on the children until married. Or until they can afford to support them on their own.
You also know that many of those men have felonies and can't get a job.
Is it societies fault that they're felons? With training they can find jobs. When a Queens man I knew got out of prison (Elmira) he got a good job in the printing industry. He worked the same job until he retired. He didn't waste his time in prison at the gym or library looking for ways to get out. He chose to learn some kind of trade.

If regular people without FELONIES can't find jobs just for having bad credit, then how is an ex-con supposed to get something?
Actually, back in the day, they were able to get work down by the docks and at the meat market, but I don't know if that's still true today.
They were able to get bike messenger work too, but that was when the market was GOOD.
There will ALWAYS be a PERMANENT UNDERCLASS that will NEVER amount to or be anything.
and what about the ones that dont even speak english...
What about them?
