yes some people who don't know geography well or have rarely ventured over there to the west have considered Riverdale or Kingsbridge to be Manhattan. but when you think about it, Kingsbridge and Riverdale seem like a natural progression from the city(Inwood) to the semi suburbs(Riverdale)
many know that Riverdale and K'bridge are directly north of Manhattan but don't know it is separated by a body of water
whereas places like Woodlawn and Wakefield are not directly north of Manhattan
Marble Hill is the neighborhood which makes up the northernmost part of the Borough of Manhattan in New York City, United States. Although it is politically part of Manhattan and New York County, because of the re-routing of the Harlem River, it is located on the North American mainland contiguous to The Bronx, not on Manhattan Island.[1] Because of its geography, Marble Hill is often associated with the Bronx; for instance, it is part of two of the Bronx's Community Board Districts. Broadway is the area’s primary thoroughfare.
YES, you have crossed the Harlem River and, yes, that is the northern tip of Manhattan island that you can see to the south. But as residents of Marble Hill are quick to point out, you are not in the Bronx: because of a 19th-century public works project that reshaped Manhattan island and severed its topmost land, Marble Hill is across the river and into what logically should be the Bronx.
How can you know so much about Marble Hill and apparently not know that Riverdale is in the Bronx? Riverdale, by the way, is considered one of the safest areas of the city.
