Picked a freebie paper called CHELSEA this week after the ATLANTIC THEATER.

They list a new BIG building/complex on 45th St. consisting of 682 rental apartments in 4 income categories. It's 510-550 West 45th...so pretty much the whole block between Tenth and Eleventh Aves.

I'll only highlight the one-bedroom units:

lowest income:
14 1-bedroom apartment for 1 or two people: $20,263-23,240 for 1 person....to $26560 for 2. Rent: $533

The next level will appeal to more here:
71 1-bedroom apartment: $$25,612 - $29,250 for 1 to $33,200 for 2. Rent: $689

250 of the total apartments fall into these two groups.

With the third tier the rent jumps to $2042 and $2509 for tier 4 ($109,560 for 2) and I see no pressing reason to rush into that.

As usual, 50% are for Community Board 4. (Any lucky buggers here?)

Post card for application to:
West 45 Lottery
P.O. Box 1761 Murray Hill Station,
New York, NY 10156

or download from
www.West45Lottery.com

Application must be postmarked by Nov. 9, 2012.

Good luck and invite me for a drink if you get a place.

(If anyone wants more particulars on the high priced apts. or on a different sized apartment (they go from studio to 3 bedroom) just ask. I'll hang onto the ad for a while.

Out of curiosity- what happens if you qualify for the rent based on your current income, but then in a year or so you get a better job and are out of the bracket? I only ask because I haven't been able to find any jobs in my field since finishing grad school, and as a result I do qualify at the moment. But I'm desperately hoping that I find something eventually in which case I'll be making more.

Kefir King - It's great that you take the time to post these notices when you find them. Unfortunately for me it's yet another that skips over singles in the $35K to $60K. I get why but it still sucks lol.

knh39 - That happened to me when I got called in for the housing lottery for The Edge in Williamsburg. I was only over by $120 but I was basically told "tuff luck." Oh well.

Yeah, Sorry Jaas...
The third category is $72,000 to $89,640. But really, that's not much of a bargain at $2 GRAND.

Perhaps you could contact the developer and tell them they are referring to an area of Manhattan you had never heard of...maybe they will publish a retraction? Perhaps even offer you a reward?

Perhaps I can care less what developers try and re-market a neighborhood as?

And perhaps the developers who call the area CLINTON think pretty much the same about your opinions about what neighborhoods are, or USED to be called,

By the way the proper term is "I canNOT care less." Your usage makes no sense.

I am not too concerned about their thoughts and feelings. The delicate little flowers they must be with you defending them in such a way.

Oh and thank you for correcting a typo. I am not sure where random internet forums would be these days without our ever present grammar nazis. But I particularly thank you for CAPITALIZING random words. I notice that you tend to do THAT under the assumption that it is necessary for EMPHASIS (tip: it's generally not).
