I read about this on a local blog in Astoria Why leave astoria to create a New Haven Line station in Queens as Metro-North is looking to run trains to Penn Station through Astoria
Sunnyside is the only station that Queens would likely get , this would be a Transit Station similar to Jamaica , Long Island Railroad , Metro North , New Jersey Transit and Subways... The Astoria Station is too high and would need buildings to be demolished for it to be built...

It would be cool, though, and dramatically reduce travel times to the Bronx and points north.
Even though it'd cost more than, I can see the station getting some decent usage.
Maybe I missed it, but is there a specific intersection they're looking at for the station? Nexis4Jersey is right, the tracks are pretty high up in that area.
There are three proposed locations according to the blog to be decided by community input.
One Astoria location near Astoria Blvd and 43-45th street
One Woodside location near the Northern Blvd subway station
One Sunnyside location that is already being built by the LIRR and would not cost anything
Woodside would make sense. It's a point of connection to the 7 and LIRR already. That would be sweet. I wouldn't have to drive to the Bronx every day, pay toll and parking.

Thats a different part of Woodside , this Woodside station would be at Northern Boulevard and Broadway..
