I made a brief visit to Queens in September to renew my NYS driver's license since I could no longer renew it by mail without a photo. I flew in on Tuesday, 25 September, to LGA. The shuttle service picked me up after I called and took me to the hotel, LaGuardia Plaza Hotel. After checking in, I took the car service to the Spicy and Tasty restaurant in Flushing to get some Chinese takeout (where I live is a wasteland for Chinese food) and returned me to the hotel where I ate in my room.

The next day I went to the DL office in Queens first thing and renewed my DL. Then I got a car service to take me to Sky mall. I shopped at the Sky Chinese grocery store, got takeout from the deli and returned to the hotel where I ate and rested. Thursday I took care of some other personal business. I had to ask directions from a local gentleman who was very helpful. I went to the Hong Kong Supermarket in Flushing, then it was back to the hotel. I left early Friday morning to return home.

The hotel was very comfortable. I enjoyed shopping in the two Chinese grocery stores very much. I found the people I encountered to be friendly, helpful and altogether very nice. Using the car services added a touch of luxury that this old lady, who normally drives a '94 Beetle, really appreciated and made a good trip even better.

I really enjoyed my brief visit and hope I can return some day. Thank you, Queens, for a great brief visit!

Thanks to all of you for your nice comments.

I decided to avoid Manhattan like the plague when I learned the UN General Assembly was going on. I'm glad I did. There was absolutely no need to go into Manhattan. I got everything done I wanted to get done in Queens with no muss, no fuss, no bother. And I found a nice environment with much to offer.
