their profit is from $ 1.00 slices?
They skimp on the ingredients, mainly the dough. I actually enjoy the simpler less doughy pizza. Some places make a pretty decent budget slice.

The average nyc pizzeria uses pretty cheap ingredients, the main thing that has gone up over the years is the cheese and what you need for dough.

Many are quite good and many are a lot better than slices costing $3. But there are people in this City buying bottled water in plastic for $1 a bottle so for some people PAYING is part of their enjoyment.

My favorite post is the one that said basically "I never had one but I hate them."

Meh, I wouldn't waste the effort to chew on a dollar slice, this coming from a girl who can walk to Totonno's, Grimaldi's and L&B.... Pizza snob, maybe?

I eat $1 pizza when I'm running from one appointment to another and need to get something quick and easy to eat. I love them! My only wish is that they'd put more sauce on the dough.

I am grateful for pizza snobs...they keep the crowds down at the $1/slice places.

I had my first $1 slice two nights ago at work. Well, my first since $1 became a bargain at least. Anyway, it wasn't so bad. Considering other factors involved that I won't get into here, the place will probably be worked into my rotation. I really expected much worse.

I actually haven't tried a dollar pizza yet, I haven't been on much of a pizza fix lately, though I do prefer NYC pizza over west coast pizza.

So which are the best $1 dollar pizza places?

I think the best $ pizza is
99¢ Fresh Pizza - 6th Ave between Waverly and W. 8th Street (West Village)
