I have an interview for a below-market apartment in a market apartment building and they've given me a list of about 523890235 documents to provide. Most of these are to prove my income.

My question is this: is the income limit for before taxes (gross) or after taxes (net)? This is a pretty big issue for me, because I'm self-employed and most of my employers (I have several clients) don't take taxes out.

before taxes (gross).
and for self-employed, they will ask for your Schedule C, which is included in your tax return.

I just won the lottery. I received a letter stating I have to bring other documents so now my question is. One of the documents is showing my account was close. Now will this pose a issue that the close wad close due to overdrawn . Now, will they reject me for that.

benjid,

Lose that document. If the account is closed it no longer enters into the question of your assets.

Nuts,

Can you show them something that simply says ACCOUNT CLOSED without dwelling on the REASON?

See, what they are most interested in is your RESOURCES for which they will impute an income of 2%. They want to be sure you aren't hiding assets, which you clearly are not. So they may not be looking too hard.

BUT if they spot that you have written a bad check it's deep doo-doo.
