I've been storm watching all day from my home in southeastern Queens, NY which is said to be within Sandy's "high impact area". So far I've seen nothing to justify the media's alarming call of widespread catastrophe and devastation that they forecast with Sandy. In fact, far from it.
Sandy is turning out to be a total bust just as I expected. Yes it's windy outside, but nothing more spectacular than you would see in your typical summer thunderstorm or a fall/winter cold front event. Also it's been pretty dry all day with little more than a drizzle here and there. Seems like the media jumped the shark with this one just as they did with Irene... only this time they were even more hyperbolic.
You do realize the storm hasn't even made landfall yet, right? And that Battery Park, parts of Brooklyn, and a large portion of the Jersey Shore are already underwater?
Drop the too cool for school "I ain't afraid of a hurricane!" act, guys. It doesn't apply for this one.

But what if he's really not afraid? Does he HAVE to be?

It's foretasted to make landfall on the south Jersey shore a few hours from now. We should already be getting some of the worst winds. I am looking outside right now and I not impressed with Sandy. I don't know, maybe it's because I've seen real hurricanes before.

That's fine, but I don't think you can say the hurricane was "a bust" in NYC when parts of the city are currently sitting underwater and the storm hasn't even actually hit yet.

Irene was hype (IMO), this is not. The hurricane hasn't even come to town yet! All this wind and flooding is just the peripheral.
I hear the worst of it will be tonight into tomorrow afternoon.
