yeah it's 25 bucks from your paycheck until it's paid back
if you don't get hired...you don't pay it back
But as far as wasting money, again remember you're being trained by the every day FBF staff. Those guys would have been there anyway and would have gotten their day's pay whether they were training you or not. So it's not a ton of money wasted on that end.
How do they handle the guys that alreadly have a CDL & experiance driving trucks?
Experience driving trucks doesn't matter to them at all
If you have your CDL, you simply tell human resources and you obviously would not have to go for the CDL training and would not need to have 900 bucks taken out of your checks. If hired, you would go to FP and then you would just show up at FBF when class starts
Jumping the line is a bit misleading. If you have the cdl when the class goes in and the people below you don't...you're hired first. Not because you skip a line, but because obviously they can't be hired until they get one and they're not holding up the class waiting for them
if you fail and you go get your cdl from a driving school and you call hr and tell them you have your cdl you will be placed in the next class. but they will charge you for their training you failed. if you really want this job go to a driving school and get your cdl now. you will be happy you did. thats what i did and yes i went into training ahead of others that didn't have their cdls yet. i went to north side driving school. 550 bucks and they supply a bus for your road test. 5 lessons is all i needed. but you have to get a passenger endorsement on your permit to drive the bus. along with the tank and air brakes endorsements that sanitation requires. good luck!

And while you're at it get the school bus endorsement as well so you can work until you're on DSNY.
People keep saying that those with their cdl skip over those who don't have that's not all the way true because even if you have your cdl you still have to wait for the class to start, now if you don't have your cdl when the the class starts then yes you will be skipped but they do give you enough time to take the training and get your cdl before the class starts and another thing is they actually prefer you to do the training with them
