What they can't ride bikes and skateboards or take buses to other trains?

The main reasons the G and the L are still out is because they are the oldest trains with the oldest tracks. The G tracks need to be badly replaced, same with the L. Plus the entire G line is underground, so you can imagine the flooding it received, especially around the stations that were close to water, such as LIC and Greenpoint.

So these people need to ask themselves, would they prefer the trains to be up but risk dangers like track fires and such, or wait a little longer for it to be safe?

I heard yesterday that it could be over a YEAR before they rebuild the bridge across the bay to the Rockaways. This will be devastating to the area. The MTA NEEDS to have a plan in place to completely replace the subway service with something equally effective, like running a huge number of express buses--the area can't just be cut off for a year. But I've heard no plans. Has anyone else?

I'm trying to find out. I've got a colleague who does a ton of business with MTA Bus asking around.
