If you can hold out an extra day or two, it's better to wait. I have been in many hurricanes and power outages. Gas shortages are really bad for the first 3-5 days. After 5 days, enough gas stations will have power back up.
If feasible head up to southern Ct, their gas stations are pretty clear from what I'm hearing. SE Queens/Nassau border neighborhoods is just about tapped out, people are lining up tonight at gas stations that have no power just hoping it turns back on
Fuel Trucks To Ease Gas Shortage In New York City, Long Island
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Saturday announced plans to deploy temporary fuel trucks in parts of New York City and Long Island to help provide gasoline to emergency vehicles, as well as the general public.
The 5,000-gallon trucks have been provided by the U.S. Department of Defense at the direction of President Barack Obama, and were being deployed in coordination with the New York National Guard, according to a news release.
An additional 150,000 gallons of fuel were also made available to restock the trucks throughout the day.
The fuel trucks will be set up at the following locations:
Many gas stations along with millions of people have lost of power in Staten Island, Long Island, Jersey. People are leaving those areas and hunting for gas in NYC. Most of those stations should have power by Monday.
