why lucky? its still early to speculate. As far as I know, its apples and oranges.

so far, its reported 2 died and 22 injured. Its really sad for innocent speculators and possibly some runners coming for a happy event to be part of something so awful

Explosions rock Boston Marathon finish line; dozens injured - Metro - The Boston Globe

3 Dead including an 8 year old boy and at least 170 injured. I hope nothing like this ever happens at a future NYC marathon.

The latter was a controlled unrelated blast according to reports.

Is there a possibility that the Boston attack was originally planed for NYC?

The only other really large marathon since NYC was Disney, and that is an entirely different can of fish as far as security and access goes.

Just a thought that crossed my mind.

I don't think it being a "marathon" per se was the reason for the attack. Moreso the extremely large gathering of unsuspecting people. It was also Patriot's Day in Boston.

That crossed my mind too since our last one was cancelled suddenly due to the hurricane.

However, I think NYC's security is much stronger than Boston's due to all we have been through and their marathon was a much easier target than ours would have been.

That would have to be a really $&@#^^ person to do that if he/she/it was a native Bostoner ... and how many non-natives know Patriot's Day means something special over there except maybe someone from Maine where it is also big?

It was also Income Tax due day ... another American favorite!

I'm not from Boston (or Massachusetts) but know what Patriots Day is (and that it has nothing to do with a NFL team.) Don't short sell all Americans as morons who don't know anything beyond their backyard.
