With the population of new york city growing so much, i'm sure there will be a point where the city can't handle the amount of people. i can imagine newyork city with 12- 13 million people. Do you think there will be a time where new york city will stop accepting more people or try to force people to go else where?

no, NYC population has shown very little increase in the last 60 years, your conclusions are faulty
People move in, others move out. Plus there's an explosion of high rise residences going up esp in Manhattan to fit yet more people into that little borough.
I think NYC could handle it. NYC, according to the Census, has been gaining more population per year than any American city. So Apvbguy, you're wrong. It just doesn't seem like it because when we gain 300,000, that doesn't put a dent in our population, but when a place like Dallas gains that, it's huge news.

Yeah the statistics show that the city will gain a million new residents within the next 20 years. The population is supposed to rise to 9 million by 2030.
NYC is projected, by some estimates, to have around 9-9.5 million people by 2020. The city most certainly can absorb 1-1.3 million more people. As for the future beyond 2020, I don't necessarily think there will be that much growth, as mentioned in the original post.
I would project NYC to hit 12 million by 2050--if the population keeps adding people via immigration and births. One major factor that could slow population is that #1 biggie: housing costs. Also, the economy is a major factor of course.

Yeah its called gentrification and eventually New York will gentrify the areas that they hide the poor at for now and all hell will break lose, but that is probably about 100 years from now for your grandkids to worry about.
