Listening to the World News Tonight, yesterday, it was said that the fires at Breeze Point are being investigated by the FBI.
Does this mean that there is a possibility the fires were man-made? There was some insinuation about their main generator, possibly being sabotaged. I have read extensively that there have been some racial tensions between B/P and Far Rockway, for some time. Just wondering.

Nobody from Far Rockaway goes to Breezy Point, we'd stick out like a sore thumb there and same as if they came around our way.

My experience with Breezy Point is as follows:
About 20 years ago we spent the afternoon at Riis Park and decided to drive a rather newish Chevvy the length of the Island to check out the scenery.
We are both lily white except for nice beach tans. One of us was Jewish.
We were stopped at a gatehouse with one of those up and down crossing gates you see at border checkpoints. We were told unless we could show ID cards identifying us as residents we could not enter Breezy Point. Up until that point I did not think that kind of exclusion was legal in New York...I still don't.
I was furious and as I turned around and drove away I cursed the whole community under my breath. In all the time since, every time I heard any mention of Breezy Point, the fury returned.
Since they guard their privacy to such an extent I DO hope they are privately taking care of all their expenses because I certainly do not want a single penny of my tax money spent on them. They declare themselves separate from NYC, so NYC should respond in kind.

My neighborhood has guards and a gate, and we'd tell you the same thing. We maintain all of the roadways and amenities (community pool, health club, basketball/tennis courts, playground etc.) and the gates are there to keep out people who want to use the things we pay for without tax dollars. Given your reasoning the person who lives in the next town over should be allowed to play on your backyard swing set.
We get no discount in property taxes yet don't use public funds to maintain our roadways and recreational amenities and are entitled to the same police, fire, and disaster aid as anyone else in this country.
For the record, my neighborhood is very diverse. We have Christians, Jews, Hindu's Buddhists, Muslims, and non-believers all living together. Our skin tones are every color of the rainbow. We respect each other. The gates are there to keep out people who try to use our recreational amenities and to thwart criminals who have no reason to enter, not to deny entry based on race, skin tone, or religion.
sounds like they're very prejudice over there in breezy point,
but that doesn't mean anyone from far rock burned their houses
down. give me a break.
U know how much of a pain in the ass Breezy Point is to even get to? It wouldn't be worth anybody's trouble to go there to deliberately burn people's homes.
