Hi guys, I was looking at buying a condo at a relatively new condo building on Kent Ave between Willoughby and Dekalb Aves.

There are projects along Dekalb just South of Pratt, which is 1/2 a block away, and according to the following crime heat wave maps from Trulia (you can scope it out if you'd to peruse), violent crimes have been fairly prevalent in that small compact area on both sides.

Does anyone live nearby or have any feelings on potential danger levels? I've dealt with the nearby Classon Ave G Train Stop, which often has some sketchy-looking behavior happening. I bike often, so I'm less worried about myself and more about people coming to visit me. Any thoughts?

That's barely Bed Stuy- it's two blocks over from NYC's definition of Clinton Hill and WELL within the general public/real estate broker's definition of Clinton Hill. I lived five blocks away from there for a number of years. Amazing neighborhood- not really up and coming anymore. It's already 'come' so to speak lol. Tons of bars, restaurants, culture, young families, college students, etc. Rent is getting SUPER expensive in the area. The Lafayette Gardens projects would be near you- People like to talk about them like they are horrible. I lived on Taaffe and Dekalb (Taaffe Lofts) in a sublet for a few months and I did witness one incidence of shots fired on Classon and Lafayette, right infront of one of the project buildings. But honestly that was it. I never felt threatened in the area. That was like 5 years ago too and the neighborhood has continued to change since. I think it would be a great investment. You will prob have people disagree with me, but really. Just come wander around the area at night and see how you feel. I used to walk my dog alone at night through there all the time.

In terms of the train, the Classon stop is fine. Its mostly college kids getting on/off. I lived one stop over at Clinton/Washington, rode it all hours of the day/night alone (20s white female). I only left the area because my rent got jacked up and I managed to get into Crown Heights just in time (which IS Clinton Hill 6 or so years ago, lol).
