Hello. I was just wondering if the esplanade walk area in BPC is open to visitors and what the damage was like after the storm. I couldn't find much information on hours of operation on the NYC parks website.

I am planning on taking my girlfriend there on Saturday, Nov. 24th and wanted to make sure it's not closed beforehand.

Thanks.

I don't know about that specific area, but there are still a lot of generator trucks, flood recovery vehicles in the general vicinity

I haven't been to the park since before the storm. However, I know the offices that manage the park are closed:

I really doubt you can get onto that walkway.

You may consider Brooklyn Heights as an alternative.

Thanks everyone. Ill definitely consider Brooklyn Heights as an alternative. I really just wanted to take her somewhere with a nice view (either of the city or the harbor) so any suggestions of other parks/areas would be greatly appreciated.

Take a Circle Line ride.

There's some other waterfront parks in Greenpoint and Williamsburg as well. As already mentioned, Brooklyn Heights is a good suggestion also.

The esplanade, at least from Wagner Park & all points north of there, is open with no noticeable damage. I stop just shy of Battery Park when I go for walks, so I don't know if everything there is open, but all north of there in BPC is definitely open & has been for a while. Even the morning after all the flooding, a lot of people were ignoring the police tape that was out that day & were out stretching their legs. I saw two downed trees that day, but now all you see is a tiny bit of debris & a ton of leaves from all the trees losing their leaves at this point in the year.
